Hi, my name is Nigist Sewnnet and I’m a paraplegic sailor. I became obsessed with sailing as a sport through Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario 8 years ago and soon developed a love of competition.
As a result of polio contracted at the age of 4 and multiple spinal surgeries, I became a paraplegic. I live my life in a wheelchair, and when I am on the water I leave my chair on shore and feel free.
